Volunteers are needed in every aspect of our operation, from our pantry garden where we grow fresh produce to be handed out, to warehouse, office work, distribution, and more. We even have a mobile food bank called Living On The Streets that goes out to the homeless in the Inland Empire. We feed more than 1000 people every day, from Fontana to Calimesa, and even in the mountain communities, like Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, and Forest Falls. That takes a lot of people power!
Everyone Can Volunteer! (Almost)
We have people of nearly all ages, groups of Boy Scouts, college fraternities and sororities, student volunteers, and school community service groups getting involved. Church groups of all denominations, from Christian to Muslim, pitch in to lend a hand. Even children’s groups are making a difference in their community.
If this is your student “gap year,” or you would like to spend the summer volunteering, what better way to spend it than helping to feed the poor and needy men, women, and children in your community?
The “almost” is because we do not take any court-ordered service except for community service in lieu of fines. If you are doing community service in lieu of fines click on the court-ordered service link in the drop down above for the requirements.
Community Service Hours
Community Service hours are completed at the warehouse only. To get credit for your hours, you will need to do several things. First, you have to keep track of your own hours. Second, you have to log in and out every time you start and finish volunteering on the computer in the office. Third, you have to use the form supplied by the program you are doing the hours for and completely fill it out once your hours are completed, and include your email on the form, placing it in the box next to the computer marked for that purpose.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**You will need to complete your hours at least 72 hours before you need the proof/verification of your hours. If you need the original/hard copy, we suggest completing your hours at least 7 days before you need the completed paperwork returned, and you will need to provide a self-addressed stamped envelope when you turn in your paperwork.
The warehouse is open Sunday through Thursday between the hours of 7 am and Noon, but on major holidays we do try to get out early and are usually closed Christmas, Thanksgiving Day and New Years Day.
“Full” indicates our volunteer opportunities for that area are full. Please check back soon if an area interests you. We update this list frequently.
A weekly commitment is required for the delivery service
Volunteers for the Delivery-Service Use your own vehicle to deliver food to our clients. This is a doorstep service where we drop off the food box at their doorstep.
Have a green thumb? We have a large garden where volunteers are needed to adopt a day to help maintain and harvest the vegetables (peppers, squash, broccoli, etc.) that are grown for our neighbors in need. If you enjoy gardening, volunteers are needed to weed, feed, plant, harvest, and maintain the garden. Volunteers can also help harvest fruit from local orchards. The harvest is left with a neighbor or delivered to the warehouse. Volunteers can help any day during daylight hours.
If you have extra fresh vegetables and fruits from your own gardens, we will gladly accept your donations at our San Bernardino warehouse.
The garden we operate is located at:

Needs Volunteers for new and expanded routes!
Volunteers in Living on the Streets are needed to use our mobile food bank to help deliver food to the homeless for three hours one day a week or more, if possible. The hours to volunteer are 6:45 am to 10:45 am. You start and end at our warehouse. We require a weekly commitment for this position where you volunteer the same day every week.
The main office could use volunteers with office skills and business skills to help implement, maintain, and track various programs. Volunteers will help with phone calls, filing, fundraising, and other general office duties. Those with skills in graphic design, IT, accounting, writing, and editing are also needed. This is primarily 7-3:30 M-F, but can be any hours any day.
Volunteers deliver food to college and grad students on Thursday using their own vehicle to deliver to a small area. This starts at our warehouse where you place bags in the trunk of your vehicle and deliver to several locations all in the same geographic area. We also have opportunities to deliver to disabled and elderly clients. These positions require a long-term weekly commitment.
Open 6 days a week and needing a variety of skills. Truck drivers, mechanics, tradesmen, and people to help us sort and bag food.
