The Healthy Living Project is an upcoming program that will provide information, classes, seminars, and a wider array of fresh produce and other healthy products so clients and their entire family can live healthier lives.
It can be hard to know how to cook with the dizzying selections of produce at the supermarket, and for those receiving produce at our food bank’s distribution center, it can be even harder if you’ve never seen a certain kind of vegetable or fruit before. What does it taste like? How do you cook it? How do you season it? How can you create a healthy meal with it? Helping Hands Pantry wants to step into the gap to make the process easier for Pantry clients.
Healthy Living cooking classes and seminars
Membership will require regular attendance at classes and seminars, along with volunteer activities for Helping Hands Pantry (HHP). In return, the participants, after a probationary period, will receive additional healthy foods to help them use the suggestions and guidelines of the program in the lives of their families. We are planning to grow a wider variety of vegetables, herbs, and even fruits at our two pantry gardens in order to make cooking healthy even more exciting for Healthy Living members.
